Likely causes for
Buzzing on the first few frets
Neck is too straight or bowed back DIY
With too little relief the strings hit the low frets. A small truss rod adjustment usually fixes it.
Action set too low DIY
The saddles are low enough that strings touch the frets when played harder.
Nut slots cut too deep Luthier
Open strings buzz even with good relief. Needs a new nut or filling the slots.
