What's going on with your guitar?
Pick the symptom that sounds most like yours. We'll list the likely causes, most common first, and say which ones are safe to fix at home.
Likely causes for
Buzzing higher up the neck
Action at the bridge too low DIY
Strings are too close to the higher frets. Raising the saddles a little usually stops it.
Frets rising near the neck joint Luthier
The fretboard rises where the neck meets the body, so higher notes hit the next fret. Needs levelling.
One high fret Take care
If the buzz is only on one or two frets, one fret may sit higher than the rest. Check by rocking a short straight edge over three frets. A luthier can level or reseat it.
Not sure? Start with the first cause. Each guide checks it before you change anything.
